Description
This book is written for visitors and islanders who know nothing of geology but are interested in understanding something of the natural world around them. It explains, for example: why Islay is divided into two halves; why the highest hills are in the east; why the rocks of the southern Rhinns are pink; and why the pasture is relatively good in the centre of the island. To these and many other questions, the answers lie in the geology. This book is designed to provide an introduction to the geology, and to explain features of the landscape in a simple way.
