Named after the Gaelic word for stones, the 2023 Mug of the Year features a glaze that is made from natural local stones. Ullapool Limestone and Stoer Beach Sand create a beautiful, unique finish that’s both rustic and modern. The reaction of the glaze in our high temperature firing, makes each one truly special. This variation gives the mug an organic and natural feel that will be appreciated by anyone who loves nature and its elements… a thoughtful gift for the geologist in your life!
Please note that every piece will be different and that the image is illustrative of the pattern. The colours will vary with the firing temperature.
Minor crazing is a common result of this unique geological glaze and it is still completely safe to use.
This mug will be produced until the end of the year and each piece is numbered and painted by Ullapool based decorator Susan Brown
