Description

‘So, I wanted to leave those memories in a way that I could. I wanted to express my gratitude to my friends with whom I shared such beautiful memories about Islay. As an artist and backpacker from South Korea, located at the far end of East Asia, between China and Japan, I wanted to paint Islay from my perspective. Although the UK was familiar from movies and TV dramas, the Islay I met here was a special and beautiful place beyond what I had imagined. It was not enough to simply describe this place as a Holy place for whisky. I learned that whisky can only be special because of the beautiful natural environment and extraordinary people here. While admiring the people, nature, environment, and the whisky of Islay I wanted to talk about how much I loved and missed this place, and how I will continue to love it.’ – Suyeon Kim
