Description

The Malt Whisky Map of Scotland is a special map designed by Neil Wilson and James McEwan. The Map features over 140 whisky distilleries in Scotland listed as either ‘In Production’ or ‘In Progress’ and those that became ‘silent’ after 1960. The Map is revised for 2024 and includes new production in the Western Isles.

Whisky project consultant James McEwan has used the most logical boundaries to denote the various producing regions, toaccurately reflect the ‘terroir’ of whisky production in Scotland. The reverse of the map shows a large amount of essential information on the distilleries: includes ownership, OrdnanceSurvey Landranger (OS LR) map references, dates of establishment and website and telephone details if available. Distilleries that cater for visitors are clearly indicated and many of these now require online booking (indicated).

Notes on sections dealing with flavours, key distilling terms, cooperage notes and Scottish toasts. Scottish whisky distilleries have over 2 million visitors each year.
