Description
In former centuries, many travellers to Jura left a valuable record of life on the island and due to their writings and talent with pen and paintbrush we know much about how our ancestors lived. In recent times visitors with cameras have captured more accurate records. The islanders too have recorded intimate details of the fabric of social heritage in the form of simple family photographs. Many of the precious now fading images presented on the following pages have been carefully researched and restored by modern technology.
We hope this book will bring pleasure to all who love Jura and that those whose ancestors left the island during the last century will appreciate this glimpse into the past and never forget the beautiful island which is their ancestral home.
