Description
The old Lordship of the Isles is largely a land of mystery. Contemporary Lowland historians said as little as they could about the great Western Lords whose dominions at the time of their greatest power covered the whole of the Western Isles, except Bute and Arran, and who time and again claimed to be sovereign rulers, largely independent of the King of the Scots.
